Dear Future Husband, [I hope you can cook]

Hello my people! Who's ready for some uncooked chicken?

Mmm, mmm. Looks delicious, right? I tried making lemon chicken today. (Hint: It didn't work out very well.) So I figured I might as well be fair and give someone very special in my life a very premature warning:

Dear Future Husband,

Going into this union I hope that all the cards have been laid out on the table. You know, I'm sure we've talked about the important things. Like how many kids we want. What kind of life we want to raise them in. Our personal aspirations. Places we wanna travel. Our dream house. All that good stuff.

I hope that, amongst those things, it has come to your attention that I am no Rachel Ray. I may hero worship Anthony Bourdain, but there's a reason I don't have a job as a roaming chef on the Travel Channel. And I'm sorry honey, but on your birthdays, Ralph's will most likely be your Cake Boss.

So please don't be too disappointed when you come home from a hard day at work, and instead of finding a Martha Stewart-worthy homemade dish on the table, you find take out from the nearest Chipotle.

And don't be too bummed out when, instead of finding me with a tray full of freshly baked cookies waiting to primly kiss you on the cheek and ask how your day was, you all of a sudden get tackled with a big bear hug from your crazy wife with the crazy blond hair. Cookies are unfortunately not included in this package.

I can however, guarantee that a couple of our favorite ice cream flavors will stashed in the freezer. And I'm sure my mom's out-of-this-world cookies will grace our kitchen cupboards more than once. (Sorry about that six pack you were working on, honey. :P)

So as long as you love me, and I love you, I figure your stomach can survive a couple of decades. ;)

Love, always and forever,
Future Wife
(aka Katie)

Saturday Adventurers

Saturday, the Kristen and I went onward to go on a hike.

We wore epic shades...

We took candid pictures...

And I even turned into a lion. Happy Monday!

Gossip Girl and Little Sisters

Recently I've been confining myself to the walls of my room, curling under my fuzzy orange blanket between homework assignments, and watching old episodes of Gossip Girl on Netflix. And gosh, those clothes that they wear! They don't kid around when they describe these types of shows as guilty pleasures.

A lot of the times when I watch shows like this, I think thoughts like "Oh, my sister would love that outfit." or "I can totally see Amara wearing something like that." or "Amara totally drew up something like this!" My 13-year-old uber talented sister likes to draw up clothing designs, and she's got a knack for fashion I will never have. I have this weird little daydream, where I imagine seeing us together in some magazine wearing her clothes and me being able to brag "Yeah, I'm wearing an Amara original..." I mean, come on. With a super cool name like Amara, how can you not go places?

So this is me, showing off some of her stuff, from when she was 12 (so hopefully she won't hate me for "releasing these to the public"):

I wish I could show off more of her dresses, those are my favorite.
She has some absolutely gorgeous ideas. :)
